Wierd

to draw attention to the increased presence of video cameras in public spaces, dutch artists thomas voor 't hekke and bas van oerle teamed up under the name helden to create panopticons.

the project consists of small video cameras mounted to the bodies’ of stuffed animals that are placed in public.

each camera animal slowly turns its head recording the public as the walk about below.  while this isn’t unusual, their animal like behavior draws
viewers to look twice. their first test with the idea was done in utrecht, capturing people’s reaction to their project.
